Interestingly, every six months, Oracle releases new Java features that offer a steady stream of innovations. It also enhances the platform’s performance, stability, and security.
Oracle announced the availability of Java 20, the latest version of one of the best programming language and development platform.
Oracle JDK 20 also includes platform enhancements that will improve productivity and help drive innovation, as well as thousands of improvements in performance, stability, and security. Java 20 was developed through a widespread collaboration effort between Oracle engineers and members of the global Java developer community, facilitated by OpenJDK and the Java Community Process (JCP).
With the new improvements, Java 20 is supported by Java Management Service, a native Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) service that offers a unified interface for managing Java runtimes and applications across all clouds and on-premises environments.
“For more than 25 years, Java has empowered developers to design and build the next generation of robust, scalable, and secure applications,” said Georges Saab, senior vice president of development, Java Platform and chair, OpenJDK Governing Board, Oracle.
“The innovative new enhancements in Java 20 reflect the vision and invaluable efforts the global Java community has contributed throughout Java’s existence,”
“With the support provided by Oracle’s ongoing Java technology leadership and community stewardship, Java has never been more relevant as a contemporary language and platform that helps developers improve productivity.” said Saab
Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and native code are interconnected through JDK 20’s Foreign Function & Memory API and Vector API, which are provided by OpenJDK project Amber (Record Patterns and Pattern Matching for Switch).
Project Loom which would significantly speed up the process of building, maintaining, and watching high-throughput, concurrent applications, is connected to Irs’ features.
Apart from this, the latest Java Development Kit (JDK) comes with seven JDK Enhancement Proposals (JEPs) that promise to revolutionize the programming world.
Jay Lyman, senior research analyst, S&P Global Market Intelligence spoke about companies’ pressure to use their resources wisely.
“Digital transformation leaders say they’re more focused on improving time to market and the agilitythat can be gained with better tools that can accelerate their organisation’s application development initiatives,” said Lyman
Interestingly, Oracle releases new Java features every six months that offer a steady stream of innovations. It also enhances the platform’s performance, stability, and security. This encourages the broad use of Java across all sizes of businesses and sectors.
